Get to know the dedicated team behind our Formula Student adventure,
from design to the racetrack.

History

Formula Student traces its roots back to the American Formula SAE competition, established in 1981 by the Society of Automotive Engineers. Originally designed to allow engineering students to face the realities of design, manufacturing, and project management, it went global by arriving in Europe in 1998 via Formula Student UK. Over the decades, this platform of educational excellence has adapted to contemporary industrial challenges: the introduction of the electric category in 2010 marked a major turning point, followed by the integration of autonomous (Driverless) vehicles in 2017. Today, it brings together hundreds of universities worldwide at prestigious competitions such as Hockenheim or Silverstone, where technical innovation is as paramount as pure track performance.

Mission

The mission of SIGMA Racing at SIGMA Clermont revolves around a global engineering challenge: designing, manufacturing, and racing a high-performance electric single-seater for the international Formula Student circuit. More than just a mechanical adventure, this project serves as a true innovation laboratory and a professional springboard for students.
